USCCB - NAB - Psalm 144

USCCB - NAB - Psalm 144:
Chapter 144
1
1 Of David. 2 Blessed be the LORD, my rock, who trains my hands for battle, my fingers for war;
2
My safe guard and my fortress, my stronghold, my deliverer, My shield, in whom I trust, who subdues peoples under me.
3
3 LORD, what are mortals that you notice them; human beings, that you take thought of them?
4
4 They are but a breath; their days are like a passing shadow.
5
5 LORD, incline your heavens and come; touch the mountains and make them smoke.
6
Flash forth lightning and scatter my foes; shoot your arrows and rout them.
7
Reach out your hand from on high; deliver me from the many waters; rescue me from the hands of foreign foes.
8
6 Their mouths speak untruth; their right hands are raised in lying oaths.
9
O God, a new song I will sing to you; on a ten-stringed lyre I will play for you. 10
You give victory to kings; you delivered David your servant. From the menacing sword
11
deliver me; rescue me from the hands of foreign foes. Their mouths speak untruth; their right hands are raised in lying oaths.
12
May our sons be like plants well nurtured from their youth, Our daughters, like carved columns, shapely as those of the temple.
13
May our barns be full with every kind of store. May our sheep increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields; may our oxen be well fattened.
14
May there be no breach in the walls, no exile, no outcry in our streets.
15
Happy the people so blessed; happy the people whose God is the LORD."

My God, I believe in Thee, I hope in Thee, I love Thee above all things with all my soul, with all my heart and with all my strength; I love Thee because Thou art infinitely good and worthy of being loved; and because I love Thee, I repent with all my heart of having offended Thee; have mercy on me, a sinner. USCCB - NAB - Psalm 19

The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The decree of the LORD is trustworthy, giving wisdom to the simple.
9
The precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart. The command of the LORD is clear, enlightening the eye.
10
The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The statutes of the LORD are true, all of them just;
11
More desirable than gold, than a hoard of purest gold, Sweeter also than honey or drippings from the comb.
12
4 By them your servant is instructed; obeying them brings much reward.
13
Who can detect heedless failings? Cleanse me from my unknown faults.
14
But from willful sins keep your servant; let them never control me. Then shall I be blameless, innocent of grave sin.
15
Let the words of my mouth meet with your favor, keep the thoughts of my heart before you, LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

Yearning for God

p794 Christian Prayer

Psalm Prayer

"Father in heaven, when your strength takes possession of us we no longer say: Why are you cast down, my soul? So now that the surging waves of our indignation have passed over us, let us feel the healing calm of your forgiveness. Reading

Christian Prayer p785

Ezekiel 36: 25-28

I will sprinkle clean water upon you to cleanse you from all your impurities, and from all your idols I will cleanse you. I will give you a new heart and place a new spirit within you, taking from your bodies your stony hearts and giving you natural hearts. I will put my spirit within you and make you live by my statutes, careful to observe my decrees. You shall live in the land I gave your fathers; you shall be my people, and I will be your God.

4
Praised be the LORD, I exclaim! I have been delivered from my enemies.
5
The breakers of death surged round about me; the menacing floods terrified me.
6
3 The cords of Sheol tightened; the snares of death lay in wait for me.
7
4 In my distress I called out: LORD! I cried out to my God. From his temple he heard my voice; my cry to him reached his ears."

Today I will begin the Novena for our country(and our world). The Lord is putting in my heart to praise Him and to bless our country by focusing and putting out there all the good that we have been blessed with. There are so many that are 'cursing' our country and it has been repeated so often on news programs and so forth. It is time to break the curses and call down the blessings.

A Call for a Rosary Novena

A Call for a Rosary Novena

By Fr. John Corapi

www.fathercorapi.com

Among the most important titles we have in the Catholic Church for the Blessed Virgin Mary are Our Lady of Victory and Our Lady of the Rosary. These titles can be traced back to one of the most decisive times in the history of the world and Christendom. The Battle of Lepanto took place on October 7 (date of feast of Our Lady of Rosary), 1571. This proved to be the most crucial battle for the Christian forces against the radical Muslim navy of Turkey. Pope Pius V led a procession around St. Peters Square in Vatican City praying the Rosary. He showed true pastoral leadership in recognizing the danger posed to Christendom by the radical Muslim forces, and in using the means necessary to defeat it. Spiritual battles require spiritua l weapons, and this more than anything was a battle that had its origins in the spiritual order a true battle between good and evil. Today we have a similar spiritual battle in progress - a battle between the forces of good and evil, light and darkness, truth and lies, life and death. If we do not soon stop the genocide of abortion in the United States, we shall run the course of all those that prove by their actions that they are enemies of God - total collapse, economic, social, and national. The moral demise of a nation results in the ultimate demise of a nation. God is not a disinterested spectator to the affairs of man. Life begins at conception. This is an unalterable formal teaching of the Catholic Church. If you do not accept this you are a heretic in plain English. A single abortion is homicide. The more than 48,000,000 abortions since Roe v. Wade in the United States constitute genocide by definition. The group singled out for death - unwanted, unborn children.

No other issue, not all other issues taken together, can constitute a proportionate reason for voting for candidates that intend to preserve and defend this holocaust of innocent human life that is abortion. I strongly urge every one of you to make a Novena and pray the Rosary to Our Lady of Victory between October 27th and Election Day , November 4th. Pray that Gods will be done and the most innocent and utterly vulnerable of our brothers and sisters will be protected from this barbaric and grossly sinful blight on society that is abortion. No woman, and no man, has the right to choose to murder an innocent human being.

May God grant us the wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and counsel to form our conscience in accordance with authentic Catholic teaching, and then vote that well-formed Catholic conscience.

God Bless You

Psalm 33

USCCB - NAB - Psalm 33

The LORD foils the plan of nations, frustrates the designs of peoples.
11
But the plan of the LORD stands forever, wise designs through all generations.
12
Happy the nation whose God is the LORD, the people chosen as his very own.
13
From heaven the LORD looks down and observes the whole human race,
14
Surveying from the royal throne all who dwell on earth.
15
The one who fashioned the hearts of them all knows all their works.
16
A king is not saved by a mighty army, nor a warrior delivered by great strength.
17
Useless is the horse for safety; its great strength, no sure escape.
18
But the LORD'S eyes are upon the reverent, upon those who hope for his gracious help,
19
Delivering them from death, keeping them alive in times of famine.
20
Our soul waits for the LORD, who is our help and shield.
21
For in God our hearts rejoice; in your holy name we trust.
22
May your kindness, LORD, be upon us; we have put our hope in you.

Fear not! No matter who is elected President and what their own plan for this great country is...God is still the One in charge. His "eyes are upon the reverent, upon those who hope for his gracious help".

YouTube - Praise Him

People of Praise : A Catholic Reflection

People of Praise : A Catholic Reflection

"...a people God has made His own, to praise His glory." –Ephesians 1:14
The world never mentions that people are praising God. By this silence, we might conclude that people don't praise God. However, the reality is that there's a non-stop symphony of praise taking place on earth. Consecrated religious and devout lay people across the globe praise God at least twice daily in the Liturgy of the Hours. Right now, many are praying the Divine Praises in Benediction, Eucharistic Adoration, or private prayer. Many others are praising God in song or with the charismatic gift of tongues. Babies and young children are offering God praise (Mt 21:16; Ps 8:3). Best of all, Holy Masses are offered non-stop throughout the world in praise of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We are "predestined to praise" the glory of God (Eph 1:12). God has made us "His own, to praise His glory" (Eph 1:14). Our praises are a foretaste of heaven, when we will be caught up in worship of the Triune God, praising Him "without pause" (Rv 4:8).

Since God has made us a people of praise, let us live out our vocation of praise. "It is fitting to praise Him" (Ps 147:1). "Chant His praises" (Ps 33:2). "Sing praise to His name" (Ps 135:3). Praise God in the morning and in the evening (Ps 92:2-3). Praise the Lord all your life (Ps 145:2). "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Alleluia" (Ps 150:6).

PRAYER: Holy Spirit, pour out Your love in the hearts of all believers (Rm 5:5). May "the high praises of God be in their throats" (Ps 149:6). "Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will proclaim Your praise" (Ps 51:17).

PROMISE: "Even the hairs of your head are counted! Fear nothing, then. You are worth more than a flock of sparrows." –Lk 12:7

PRAISE: St. Ignatius was a bishop of Antioch for forty years before his prayers for martyrdom were answered.

2
Give thanks to the LORD on the harp; on the ten-stringed lyre offer praise.
3

4

Sin-Seared : A Catholic Reflection

Sin-Seared : A Catholic Reflection:

"Sin is epidemic, generational, and self-perpetuating in that it blinds us to sin. Sin is also murderous even to the point of deicide itself, that is, to the point of murdering God. Therefore, when we sin, we are trapped. By our power, we can't do anything to get out of sin. We would die in our sins (see Jn 8:24) and be damned but for Jesus. Jesus saved us. He intervened and broke the power of sin in our life. 'It is in Christ and through His blood that we have been redeemed and our sins forgiven, so immeasurably generous is God's favor to us' (Eph 1:7-8).
We must thank Jesus always for saving us from sin. We must avoid at all costs falling into sin, and we must tell a sinful world about the only Savior from sin.

PRAYER: Jesus, may I go to Confession and let You wash away my sin.

PROMISE: 'God has given us the wisdom to understand fully the mystery, the plan He was pleased to decree in Christ, to be carried out in the fullness of time: namely, to bring all things in the heavens and on earth into one under Christ's headship.' –Eph 1:9-10

PRAISE: St. Mary Margaret was blessed to be the first to see the power of Christ's forgiving love through the image of His Most Sacred Heart."

Sacred Heart of Jesus

Prayer of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
by Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque

I give myself and consecrate to the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ, my person and my life, my actions, pains, and sufferings, so that I may be unwilling to make use of any part of my being other than to honor, love and glorify the Sacred Heart. This is my unchanging purpose, namely, to be all His, and to do all things for the love of Him, at the same time renouncing with all my heart whatever is displeasing to Him. I therefore take You, O Sacred heart, to be the only object of my love, the guardian of my life, my assurance of salvation, the remedy of my weakness and inconstancy, the atonement for all the faults of my life and my sure refuge at the hour of death.

Be then, O Heart of goodness, my justification before God the Father, and turn away from me the strokes of his righteous anger. O Heart of love, I put all my confidence in You, for I fear everything from my own wickedness and frailty, but I hope for all things from Your goodness and bounty.

Remove from me all that can displease You or resist Your holy will; let your pure love imprint Your image so deeply upon my heart, that I shall never be able to forget You or to be separated from You.

May I obtain from all Your loving kindness the grace of having my name written in Your Heart, for in You I desire to place all my happiness and glory, living and dying in bondage to You.

Amen.

Forever

Psalm 98

Psalms
Chapter 98
1
1 A psalm. 2 Sing a new song to the LORD, who has done marvelous deeds, Whose right hand and holy arm have won the victory.
2
The LORD has made his victory known; has revealed his triumph for the nations to see,
3
Has remembered faithful love toward the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the victory of our God.
4
Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth; break into song; sing praise.
5
Sing praise to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and melodious song.
6
With trumpets and the sound of the horn shout with joy to the King, the LORD.
7
Let the sea and what fills it resound, the world and those who dwell there.
8
Let the rivers clap their hands, the mountains shout with them for joy,
9
Before the LORD who comes, who comes to govern the earth, To govern the world with justice and the peoples with fairness.

I seem to be getting this message of 'sing a new song' quite a bit lately. I personally need to start focusing more on God's provision and all that He has already given rather then on all that 'could' be taken away. I need to relate my great gratitude to Him by living a life that is fllled with praise and worship (not just for 1 hr on Monday nights)...He is worthy!

Dear Lord, help us to focus on all that is good in our lives and thereby allowing it to grow. Bless all of our friendships and associations that they may glorify God. Be with us as we walk step by step in obedience to You...no matter how uncertain things around us get. May we delight in Your Word, oh Lord...and allow it to bring us Your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

A Morning Prayer

"A Morning Prayer, by Saint Therese

O my God! I offer Thee all my actions of this day for the intentions and for the glory of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I desire to sanctify every beat of my heart, my every thought, my simplest works, by uniting them to Its infinite merits; and I wish to make reparation for my sins by casting them into the furnace of Its Merciful Love.
O my God! I ask of Thee for myself and for those whom I hold dear, the grace to fulfill perfectly Thy Holy Will, to accept for love of Thee the joys and sorrows of this passing life, so that we may one day be united together in heaven for all Eternity.
Amen."

Thank you Lord for this promise today. I feel very 'needy' at times, and only a little better then a heap of dirt. I often look to 'the world' to provide assistance...but it falls short. I need to stay focused on You Lord! You are the source of all that is good.

Praying for all that are feeling broken and defeated today...that the Lord will raise us up.

USCCB - NAB - Psalm 113

USCCB - NAB - Psalm 113

Psalms
Chapter 113
1
Hallelujah! 1 Praise, you servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD.
2
Blessed be the name of the LORD both now and forever.
3
From the rising of the sun to its setting let the name of the LORD be praised.
4
High above all nations is the LORD; above the heavens God's glory.
5
Who is like the LORD, our God enthroned on high,
6
looking down on heaven and earth?
7
The LORD raises the needy from the dust, lifts the poor from the ash heap,
8
Seats them with princes, the princes of the people,
9
Gives the childless wife a home, the joyful mother of children. Hallelujah!

USCCB - NAB - Psalm 23

USCCB - NAB - Psalm 23:
"Psalms
Chapter 23
1
1 A psalm of David. 2 The LORD is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack.
2
In green pastures you let me graze; to safe waters you lead me;
3
3 you restore my strength. You guide me along the right path for the sake of your name.
4
4 Even when I walk through a dark valley, I fear no harm for you are at my side; your rod and staff give me courage.
5
5 You set a table before me as my enemies watch; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
6 Only goodness and love will pursue me all the days of my life; I will dwell in the house of the LORD for years to come."

Pray the Vote 2008

Pray the Vote 2008: Pray the Vote - 40 Days for Prayer

They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
--Acts 1:14

Holy God, You give us the gift of communication with You through prayer. You promise to guide us and lead us if we turn to You. I thank You for the gift of prayer, that I may speak with You at any time and at all times! Because You are timeless, You hear all our prayers no matter when we offer them.

As the elections approach, I ask You to stir our nation to prayer. May we be constant and consistent in faithfully upholding our nation and these elections before You in heartfelt prayer. Lord, grant that we may invite others into the blessing of prayer, bringing revival and renewal to our nation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May Our Blessed Mother as Our Lady of the Rosary, intercede for our country on this day.

No Benefits in the Contract : A Catholic Reflection

No Benefits in the Contract : A Catholic Reflection: "When Jesus calls a person to Himself, He calls them to the cross – to suffering, death, and unconditional love. The true follower of Jesus does not try to get anything out of following Jesus but tries to get out of that selfish attitude. When Jesus became a man and died for us, He didn't need anything from us. He did it because He loved us. We must respond accordingly."

In other words...seek His Face NOT His Hand...love Him for Who He is and not for what You can get out of Him(hard to seperate the two sometimes though, because He is so good and generous).

Terry Modica's reflection

Wednesday of the 26th Week in Ordinary Time (Year 2):

"God and me alone — that's true holiness. From this intimate friendship springs everything else: our families, our friends, our ministries, our jobs, our homes, our possessions, etc. Whatever is good and right for us, whatever will enhance our friendship with God, whatever is a gift of his love for us, these come from the solitude and solidarity of our unity with God."
